North Orange County Community College District CACT hosts the NCATC 18th Annual Fall Conference “Growth Through Innovation”

October 4-7, 2006

The North Orange County Community College District was honored that the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC) selected Anaheim, California, as the site for its 18th Annual Fall Conference, which was held at the Disney Paradise Pier Hotel from October 4-7, 2006.  The district was pleased to be serving as the co-host of the event, in conjunction with the California Community Colleges' Centers for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACTs).

The conference theme, “Growth Through Innovation,”highlighted the exchange of information on a wide range of emerging technologies and innovative practices.  The conference's forum sessions were built around tracts that emphasized the theme.  They included:

  • Innovative practices in manufacturing
  • Emerging technologies
  • Technology Transfer
  • Growth Strategies
  • Best Practices in ATC Programs, Services and Operations

Industry tours explored companies utilizing advanced technology in manufacturing and allied industries.  Facility tours of the following Orange County-based companies were offered as part of the conference:  Dynacast, EON Reality, Newport Corporation, and RICOH.

An Opening Reception was held on Wednesday, October 4 and included entertainment by a Fullerton College Jazz ensemble.  On Friday, October 6, a luncheon hosted by Cerritos College CACT featured CACT showcases, a keynote speaker, and interactive team competitions.

Corporate sponsors for the conference included:  SolidWorks, SnugTop, RICOH, BF Goodrich Aerospace, and HAAS Automation, among others.
